Hue (Vietnam): The Beautiful City on the Perfumed River

Hue is located on the bank of Huong River (the Perfumed River,). For approximately 400 hundred years, Hue (pronounced "way,") was the political and cultural center of the Feudal State of Vietnam. The royal architecture complex including the royal palaces, the religious pagodas, many pavilions for official mandarins and dignitaries and several imperial tombs are dedicated to the 13 kings of the last Nguyen Dynasty. Hue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 1: Manila / Saigon

Depart Manila for your first stop in this Heritage Trail - Saigon, Vietnam's best known destination. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Now known as Ho Chi Minh, the city features hundreds of rivers, outlets, canals and trenches. Large rivers are few and the greatest is the Saigon river winding through the city for 106 km. You will have a mouth watering lunch of spring rolls and noodles at the famous PHO 2000. Afternoon, enjoy a half day city tour of Saigon to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, former Presidential Palace, Old Saigon Post Office.

Day 2 : Saigon - Hanoi (Air)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi where upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to hotel. Set up on a city tour of this charming capital Hanoi city including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (subject to availability), and the One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, the Old Quarter of "36 streets and 36 wares". Evening, enjoy unique traditional water puppet performance.

Day 3: Hanoi - Danang

Breakfast at hotel, morning is free at leisure to wandering about this city until transfer to the airport for flight to Danang. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the ancient town Hoi An with some stops at the Cham Museum, Marble Mountain and China Beach. Check in hotel in Hoi An.

Day 4: Hoi An

After breakfast, enjoy a full day walking tour of the ancient town center and take in the former merchants' houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colorful market with its stalls brimming with tropical specialties. Afternoon, a boat cruise to visit pottery and wooden making villages. Return to hotel for an overnight stay

Day 5: Hoi An - Danang - Hue

After breakfast, free on your own wandering about this small town before embarking on a 4-hour drive from Hoi An to the former capital Hue via the Cloudy Pass. On the way, stop at Lang Co where a spectacular panorama of the central coastline can be viewed at the summit, dropping down to the wonderfully photogenic fishing village of Lang Co located on a sand dune line. Upon arrival in Hue, visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market.

Day 6: Hue - Saigon

Break fast at hotel. This morning you will take a dragon boat cruise upstream the Perfume river to visit the best preserved religious monument in Hue standing on the riverbank with its seven-floor tower, Thien Mu pagoda then drive to visit the Imperial Citadel. Afternoon, visit the elaborate mausoleums of Emperor Tu Duc, Khai Dinh, from where the Nguyen emperors once ruled Vietnam. Transfer to the airport for flight to Saigon. Rest of day is free.

Day 7: Saigon

Breakfast at hotel. Full day free day at leisure to do shopping at the popular BenThanh Market. Or you may take an optional trip to see the underground Cu Chi Tunnel. Overnight in Saigon.

Breakfast at hotel. Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for departure flight. End of service (B)
